Seoul – September 7, 2025 –
On August 20, digital healthcare startup UMED and IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) platform technology specialist People and Technology signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on IoMT business in the field of urology.
The core of the agreement is to integrate UMED’s smart urological devices with hospital information systems. Both companies share the joint goal of realizing IoMT services that connect in-hospital and out-of-hospital environments by 2027.
Through this partnership, the two companies plan to promote the integration of smart medical devices with hospital ICT infrastructure, thereby improving both patient convenience and medical staff efficiency. The first milestone is to establish a smart clinical environment in which urology patients can easily use UMED’s devices within the hospital, and medical staff can view procedure data collected from those devices in real time.
UMED is a digital healthcare startup specializing in comprehensive management of urological diseases with innovative technology. Founded by medical professionals, the company is leading the paradigm shift in urology from treatment-centered care to prevention-centered care, starting with the development of smart medical devices.
Currently, UMED has commercialized a drug-induced urethral catheter and is close to obtaining medical device certification for UroRinse™ Light, an automatic bladder irrigation system for patients with voiding dysfunction. UMED aims to transform urology, which has traditionally been relatively underserved, into healthcare accessible to all, growing into a specialized platform capable of managing various urological conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), comparable to chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes.
People and Technology is a healthcare technology company driving digital transformation (DX) in hospitals through its IoMT platform. Its proprietary IndoorPlus+ SmartCare uses BLE-based sensors to collect and manage real-time location and vital data from patients, medical staff, and medical equipment. It integrates with hospital EMR/HIS and control systems to provide monitoring, alerts, and operational dashboards.
Currently, the platform is deployed in more than 35 medium-to-large hospitals across Korea, supporting real-time patient monitoring and smart hospital solutions, and is being used in over 100 medical sites worldwide.
Through this MOU, the two companies plan to combine their strengths to jointly develop and expand a specialized service platform for urology that bridges in-hospital and out-of-hospital care.
