Seoul – July 24, 2023 –
Enterprise AI service provider People and Technology Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Hong Sung-pyo and Lim Jin-soon) announced its ongoing participation in the “Integrated Epidemic Control Information System and Infectious Disease Big Data Platform Development” project, led by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).
The project, scheduled to run until January 2024, focuses on developing an advanced epidemic control information system and big data platform to enable rapid and flexible responses to public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases.
Key Objectives of the Project
- Patient-Centered Surveillance and Management System: Establishing a robust framework for monitoring and managing infectious disease cases.
- Efficient Epidemic Response Management: Streamlining processes for epidemic investigation, diagnostics, and resource allocation.
- G-Cloud-Based Architecture: Designing a cloud-based service architecture to enhance data security, privacy, and quality management.
- Automated Reporting and Integration: Implementing automatic and web-based reporting for seamless integration of epidemic data.
Project Structure and Scope
The Integrated Epidemic Control Information System project commenced in November 2022. KT DS serves as the primary contractor, with People and Technology and Ability Systems as sub-contractors. People and Technology is focusing on:
- Development of patient surveillance and management tools.
- Integration of epidemiological investigation and diagnostic workflows.
- Management systems for screening clinics, pathogen databases, and infectious disease reporting.
- Comprehensive integration of personal and demographic information into a unified system.
Benefits and Impact
A spokesperson from People and Technology highlighted the project’s significance:
"During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, manual reporting processes at hospitals and clinics caused significant delays in initial containment efforts. This system will provide 24/7 monitoring of 50+ legal infectious diseases, ranging from Class 1 to Class 4, enabling swift responses to both known and emerging threats."
The system will also enhance coordination and real-time data sharing among healthcare providers, public health agencies, and laboratories, ensuring that epidemic control measures are proactive and effective.
