People and Technology Co., Ltd., an enterprise AI services company, has announced that it will supply its IoT system, IndoorPlus+, for the third ship of the Gwanggaeto-III Batch-II class, a next-generation Aegis destroyer and key component of South Korea's Korean Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) system.
The IndoorPlus+ solution will be integrated into the Gwanggaeto-III Batch-II 3rd ship from December 2023 to December 2028. Leveraging the company's extensive experience and expertise in previous solution deployments, People and Technology will ensure the successful implementation of the system while focusing on expanding its influence in the smart defense and related industries.
IndoorPlus+, developed by People and Technology, is an advanced IoT system that integrates BLE sensors, IoT communication modules, RFID (NFC) tags, LTE devices, and more. It provides real-time monitoring of crew member locations, mission status management, fire detection, crew health management, IoT patrols, and emergency (SOS) alerts. This IoT solution has already been successfully applied to various naval vessels and was also implemented in the South Korean Air Force's Smart Airbase project in 2021.
A representative from People and Technology explained, “IndoorPlus+ uses beacon tags to manage key assets and crew members aboard the ship, with real-time monitoring available through a dashboard. NFC tags are also used for managing weapon entries and exits, digitizing what was previously a manual asset management process for improved efficiency.”
They continued, “Through the efficient operation and management of the ship using IoT, we aim to support the realization of the ‘Defense Innovation 4.0’ plan for building a technologically advanced military. We are committed to focusing on further system enhancement to foster a smarter navy.”
People and Technology, recognized by Gartner as a "Notable AIoT Vendor" in 2019, has developed and commercialized advanced solutions, securing over 100 clients globally across various sectors, including healthcare, logistics, and public infrastructure.
